Official Twitter app for iPad first impression
Posted: September 1, 2010 Filed under: Gadgets | Tags: app, iPad, Osfoora, Twitter Leave a comment »After i saw the app has been released i connected to app store right away had downloaded it. It is pretty simple and clean, works well. It seems working better in portrait then landscape. I like how it opens up a website if a tweet has a link. (it can also be a con)
Under setting it doesn’t have much options, so I guess what you get is what it is. I wish this came out two weeks earlier. I wouldn’t have to purchase Osfoora. I will give this one some time and see which one I like better.
iPad
Posted: June 14, 2010 Filed under: Gadgets | Tags: 64gb, Froyo, iPad, Kindle, NexusOne, wifi 2 Comments »Many of you who know me was actually surprised that i held off this long. I finally purchased my iPad yesterday, 64GB wifi version. Until i purchased it, i was more like “do i really need this thing?” but I’m really glad i got it.
I love reading books with kindle app (i should give a chance to ibook sometime), thanks to android froyo i didn’t have to purchase 3G version and over paying monthly service to AT&T! I tether with my NexusOne and I’m online every where.
I’ll post a review after my honeymoon period is over.
Kindle for Mac
Posted: June 3, 2010 Filed under: Gadgets | Tags: Adroid, Amazon, eBook, iPad, Kindle 2 Comments »I finally entered into the world of Kindle. I’m not much of a reader. So when I first saw the Kindle and idea behind of it, I was excited as a geek and gadget nerd but I really didn’t bother to try it for my own personal leisure.
I totally forgot, actually didn’t care, one of my summer class is meeting this Saturday first time. Of course my professor emailed us what I need to get done before the first class. Being who I am, I completely forgot about it and panicked when I saw a reminder yesterday. I have to read a entire book by saturday? I don’t even purchased one yet!
I originally planned to go to school early today and purchase one at the bookstore. I was also checking the availability at Borders and Barns and Nobel, I saw the Barns and Nobel’s Nook advertisement and remembered Kindle has an app for Mac. I quickly searched the title of the book and purchased it!
After reading about 15% of my first reading on Kindle, I’m somewhat disappointed. This is more of computer’s fault, I find myself not liking reading wide screen at all. This is really annoying, I wish I can change my screen’s orientation. I wish I can highlight what I want to highlight and ability to write a note. I wonder how my reading experience would improve on Android platform once Amazon releases Kindle for Android. I think if I use my phone, I’d complain that screen is little too small. Maybe not, since I read a lot of PDFs on my phone anyway.
I think to get the best experience out of kindle I need to purchase actual Kindle or get an iPad. Possibly another reason to justify myself to purchase an iPad that I kept refusing to purchase. Anyhow, I got to get back to reading and finish it sigh. Hopefully by end of this reading, I like the idea of reading books on computer or any portable device that will make me a bookworm!
Quick Review of Android 2.2 Froyo
Posted: May 24, 2010 Filed under: Gadgets | Tags: 2.2, Android, Froyo, Google, NexusOne Leave a comment »It has been two full days since I updated my NexusOne to Android 2.2 Froyo.
Briefly some changes I noticed.
- Smoother and faster
- Rotating to 270 degree
- Tethering options (USB or WiFi hotspots)
- New ways to unlock the phone: Patterns, Passcode, and Passwords
- Phone and contact apps rotation
- New car home app
- Twitter for android is built in now
- Flash 10.1 beta enables flash
- Faster browsing experience
- Phone and browser icon on the bottom.
- Option to move apps to SD card
- New GoogleTalk app
- New Message (SMS) App
Probably there tons of other changes but those are ones that I can actually experience by using them. Is Froyo a huge improvement? Absolutely! Am I completely satisfied coming from Eclair Moded rom? No way.
I was using Enomther’s modified ROM. It did most of Froyo improvements already except Flash. It had even more; such as data connection optimization, trackball colors for different notifications, IM app from G1, able to delete stock apps without adb commands, and etc.
I love almost every aspects of Froyo. I know it will get even better once moders comes out with custom mods. As of the stock these are things I don’t like
- Rotation to 270
- Facebook and Twitter app is built in. I had to adb to delete them
- Not all apps are working with Froyo yet – I want my MLB at Bat and Pure Calendar right now!!!
- CarHome looks nice. But in order to go to home screen, I have to exit and relaunch it to get back to CarHome.
- TrackBall color notification options are still very limited and not implemented well yet
These are things I noticed, hope Google will update Froyo again soon to bring better user experience.

Amazon released its Kindle app for BlackBerry today. Link
What a great idea for storm and storm 2 owners but I can’t seem this will be useful to other devices with a small screen. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to read on small screens???
Amazon, what about Android devices???
Google Buzz
Posted: February 9, 2010 Filed under: Gadgets | Tags: Android, Buzz, Google, Nexus One, Tweeter Leave a comment »Oh this can be really cool or really sloppy tweeter like. I think it is way beyond what tweeter is capable of.
After update my map app on Nexus One to 4.0, bam! wow. this buzz thing is insane. I wish i know how to take screenshots. Anyway, I can see such a huge potential when everyone start using it. It can snap a picture and quick impression of what they think and stuff, yelp? tweeter? and all other review websites… dang all of them should be aware of what Google is doing.
